September 24th is Family Day — A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children™ — and what better way to bring children and parents closer together than to enjoy a meal together.
Did you know that the more often kids eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink, or use drugs and the more likely they are to confide in their parents and to have better grades? This is according to research by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University, the creators of Family Day — A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children™, that is celebrated annually on the fourth Monday in September.
With a little extra planning, family meals can be transformed into a time of sharing responsibilities and meaningful conversations. Here are some articles and recipes ideas to help you and your family enjoy Family Day.
