Southern Cornbread

Easy Corn and Green Chile Spoonbread

Serving size: 8 servings

Ingredients:

2 cups Martha White® Self-Rising Corn Meal Mix
1-1/3 cups milk
OR 1-1/3 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup Crisco® Vegetable Oil
OR 1/4 cup Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening, melted
1 egg

Preparation Directions:

1. Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease 8-inch ovenproof skillet or 8-inch square pan; place in oven to heat.

2. Meanwhile, beat egg in medium bowl. Add all remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour batter into hot greased skillet.

3. Bake at 450 degrees F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
